China, Pakistan pledge to boost trade, defence ties

BEIJING - China and Pakistan Tuesday pledged to boost cooperation in trade and defence sectors, the Online news agency reported Tuesday.

Visiting Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani held discussion with Chinese President Hu Jintao in this regard, the report said. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.

China has assured Pakistan that it is ready to extend all help if Islamabad devised a comprehensive strategy to eliminate terrorism from that country.

Gilani also met China Development Bank President Chin Uon to discuss plans for starting infrastructure projects in Pakistan.
