BHOPAL - Congress legislator from Ambikapur assembly constituency in Chhattisgarh T.S. Singhdeo was arrested at Bhopal airport Wednesday for carrying 10 live cartridges, airport authorities said.

An airport official said: “Since the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is not empowered to arrest anyone, we have handed over the person carrying live cartridges to the Madhya Pradesh police.”

The legislator who was to travel from Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal to Chhattisgarh capital Raipur on a Jet Airways flight reportedly told the police that the cartridges belonged to his wife who has an arms licence.

“We are going to present him in court,” Anurag Pande, inspector at the Gandhi Nagar police station, told IANS.
