Explosion, no injuries at California high school
SAN MATEO, Calif. — Authorities say an explosion at a San Mateo high school has forced evacuation of students and cancellation of classes. There are no reports of injuries.
San Mateo police Lt. Mike Brunicardi says officers received calls Monday reporting a blast at Hillsdale High School.
Brunicardi says students were evacuated to a middle school, and a male suspect was arrested. He did not have any more information about the suspect, nor did he know what charges the suspect faces.
He also said police could not confirm, as earlier reports suggested, there was ever a gun on campus.
A bomb squad is searching the school for any other explosive devices.
Hillsdale High School is starting its second week of the new school year. It has 1,200 students.
