Calif. police dog fatally shot after biting cop

ALAMEDA, Calif. — California police say an officer fatally shot a police dog that attacked her during a search for a burglary suspect.

Alameda police Lt. Bill Scott says the unidentified female officer of two years suffered puncture wounds on her left bicep after the male Belgian Malinois attacked her and refused to release its grip.

The incident took place as police were trying to flush out a burglary suspect at the Coast Guard Recruiting Center around 6:15 a.m. Thursday.

Police later arrested a 56-year-old man on suspicion of burglary.
