UK Police: Suspect drunk pilot stopped at Heathrow

LONDON — British police say that a pilot has been arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport on suspicion of being drunk.

Scotland Yard says the 51-year-old man was taken to a police station Monday afternoon for a breathalyzer test and results are expected back shortly.

A spokesman for the force says the man has been bailed and is still in the U.K. He did not divulge the man’s name or say for which airline he worked.

The Independent newspaper said that the pilot worked for United Airlines. The paper reported Tuesday that 100 passengers on the airline’s London to Chicago flight were told to disembark because the pilot was “sick.”
