British Foreign Office minister resigns
LONDON — Britain’s Foreign Office minister Mark Malloch Brown says he will resign at the end of the month for family and personal reasons.
Several ministers resigned from British Prime Minister’s cabinet last month in protest over his leadership, but Malloch Brown insists he still greatly admires Gordon Brown. He said late Tuesday his resignation has nothing to do with the political situation.
Malloch Brown was a former Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and was appointed minister in June 2007. He played a key role in organizing the G20 summit in April.
