Bomb blast kills 10 in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - At least 10 people, including five children, were killed Saturday in a powerful bomb blast in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar, the police said.

The blast occurred near a school bus in the Kakshal area in the capital of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP), TV reports said citing police officials. Sixteen other children were also injured in the blast.

The injured were rushed to hospitals.

Meanwhile, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani have strongly condemned the bomb blast.

Zardari reiterated his resolve to continue the fight against the militants in the country.

He directed the provincial government to help the injured. He also asked the authorities to submit a report on the incident.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the blast.
