NEW DELHI - Two people were killed and another severely injured in the national capital in two separate accidents involving privately-operated Blueline buses since late Wednesday night, police said Thursday.
A Blueline bus plying on route number 500 between Saket and Connaught Place hit a scooter on which two brothers - Kamal Mathur, 30, and Vimal Mathur, 27 - were riding around 8.15 p.m. Wednesday. Both were taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital where doctors declared Kamal dead while Vimal’s condition was said to be critical.
After the accident, the driver of the bus fled from the spot abandoning the vehicle. A case has been lodged against him at the Connaught Place police station.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a 25-year-old man was killed when a speeding Blueline bus rammed into his bike in west Delhi late Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Manoj Kumar.
“Manoj was on his way home on a bike when the speeding Blueline bus of route number 984 crushed him to death,” a police officer said.
