Bihar schoolgirl falls into cooking pot, suffers burn injuries

A class II schoolgirl suffered burn injuries after she fell into a hot cooking pot in which food for their midday meal had been just cooked, officials said today.
The shocking incident occured at a government middle school located at Manjhi block in Bihar’s Saran district on Friday.
Officials said the school authorities were in the process of serving cooked Khichadi to the students during the lunch break when the girl fell into the cooking pot after being pushed by others in the melee and suffered burns.
She was instantly admitted to a local private clinic for treatment where her condition is stated to be out of danger .
Angry villagers later protested before the school administration and sought actions against the erring staffs.
More than 500 students have fallen ill after eating spurious food or due to chaos in serving food to the children in the last few months in Bihar.
According to a report of the centre tabled in the Parliament recently, more than 3,200 students have fallen sick after eating midday meals in government schools across the country in the last three years.
