Judge weighs Magna Entertainment asset sale

WILMINGTON, Del. — Horse track owner Magna Entertainment Corp. is asking a Delaware bankruptcy judge to approve its plan to sell certain assets.

A hearing on the request began Monday, just days after Magna took Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore and other assets in Maryland off the auction block.

But a Magna attorney said Monday the company may decide later to sell Pimlico, home of the second jewel of the Triple Crown, and other assets not now in the mix.

Attorneys for Maryland and the city of Baltimore said if the Maryland assets do come up for sale, they reserve the right to object.

Among the assets now up for sale are Santa Anita Park in California, Remington Park in Oklahoma City, Thistledown in Ohio and Portland Meadows in Oregon.
