500 dogs seized in kennel raid outside Dallas
KAUFMAN, Texas — Authorities have seized more than 500 dogs and about 15 cats from what they say is a puppy mill southwest of Dallas.
The Humane Society and Kaufman County sheriff’s deputies raided the suspected puppy mill Tuesday. Sheriff’s deputies said the kennel’s owners have not yet been arrested or charged.
The Humane Society says it began investigating after a person appealed to the agency for dog food donations for the operation.
The kennel operated in a large metal building in a rural area of Kaufman County near the Prairieville community, about 45 miles southwest of Dallas.
