AT&T launches an online video site like Hulu
DALLAS — AT&T Inc. on Thursday unveiled a Web site that offers free access to TV shows and movies.
AT&T takes a page from Hulu and Fancast, rival Comcast Corp.’s video site.
The phone company calls its site, at www.entertainment.att.net, AT&T Entertainment.
The site offers content from the three broadcast networks and Bravo, Oxygen, Syfy, The CW, USA Network, CNBC and others, some courtesy of a partnership with Hulu.
Customers of AT&T’s U-verse TV and Internet service can program their digital video recorders at the new site. A similar service has been available through att.net since 2006.
Shares of Dallas-based AT&T, which closed down 10 cents Thursday at $26.27, rose 62 cents after hours to $26.56.
