Arizona sheriff raids firm seeking illegal workers
PHOENIX — An Arizona sheriff who has aggressively cracked down on illegal immigration sent deputies into a Phoenix paper plant where they arrested 44 employees suspected of identity theft or immigration violations.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio says Thursday’s raid on the Royal Paper Converting Co. plant is the second in just more than a year at the facility.
Deputies sought 102 people in the raid. Of the only 44 who were arrested, 35 were jailed on suspicion of felony identity theft and nine were turned over to federal immigration agents.
Arpaio’s office has conducted numerous workplace raids in the past two years.
Royal Paper’s attorney, Julie Pace, says the company uses the e-verify system to check that employees have the right to work in the U.S. and had all required forms on file.

As E-verify finally edges into nationwide use, I feel sure that this computer oriented program can be introduced, for not just verifying the right to work in America. There are certainly other avenues, such as verifying a person’s immigration status when an injured illegal worker is dropped off at a hospital entrance, by the parasite business or industry. The company, who hired this illegal labor, should be held accountable and pay for the hospital services. Pro-illegal immigration organizations such as the ACLU, US Chamber of Commerce have seen their lawsuits dismissed, in favor of US workers. Seems insane that not only are huge business consortium’s been permitted to import at least a million immigrant workers annually, when 9 million Americans plus are out of work? American taxpayers are forced by unfunded mandates at state levels to educate, give free health care to people who exploited our sovereignty laws.
