Man wanted in Europe found working at Neb. prison

LINCOLN, Neb. — A man wanted for alleged drug and fraud crimes in the Czech Republic has been found at a maximum-security Nebraska prison — working as a guard.

Michal Preclik (PRESS-lick) was arrested by immigration officials last month at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution. Proceedings to return him to the Czech Republic have begun.

Preclik had been listed as “wanted” by Interpol for a year. But the state Department of Correctional Services says no warrants came up when they did a background check before hiring him.

A link to Preclik’s “wanted” poster is the first thing that appears when Googling his name.

His wife, Kari Preclik, said her husband has done nothing wrong and the couple didn’t learn he was wanted until he was arrested.
