Online news operation starts in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Ann Arbor has a new source for news.

AnnArbor.com, an online news operation, is up and running after The Ann Arbor News published its final edition Thursday and went out of business.

AnnArbor.com has the same owner, Advance Publications. Besides a free Web site, it will publish a print edition on Thursday and Sunday. Home delivery costs $9 per month.

The site has stories Friday about the early retirement of 25 Ann Arbor police officers and Nick Sheridan’s goal to be the starting quarterback at Michigan.

AnnArbor.com says its reporters have traditional skills, but the Web site also will rely on the community. There will be dozens of bloggers writing about books, food, culture and neighborhoods.
