LONDON - Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse has been admitted to hospital after collapsing in the Caribbean.
The ‘Back to Black’ hitmaker was taken to a medical facility on the island of St. Lucia Friday night after suddenly falling ill, reports contactmusic.com.
A representative for the star says she collapsed after running out of medication she had been using in her ongoing battle against drugs.
Winehouse has been enjoying a sunshine break in the resort since December following numerous health problems throughout 2008, which included a stint in rehab and several prolonged stays in hospital.
She flew out to the island in December following a stint in a London medical facility after reportedly suffering an adverse reaction to prescription medication.
Winehouse’s spokesperson confirmed she was recovering well and was expected to be released from hospital shortly.
