Amit Baruah new head of BBC Hindi

MUMBAI - BBC World Service Tuesday announced the appointment of Amit Baruah, a senior Indian print journalist, as the head of its Hindi service. He will be based in New Delhi and will be responsible for BBC Hindi services multimedia output and will also be the world services lead editor for India.

Baruah, who was till now the foreign editor of Indias national daily, The Hindustan Times, brings to the BBC 23 years experience in international reporting. A foreign correspondent for nearly a decade, he has reported from Sri Lanka, Pakistan and South-East Asia.
