Ag futures mixed; Livestock prices mostly higher
CHICAGO — Agriculture futures were mixed in early trading Wednesday on the Chicago Board of Trade.
Wheat for September delivery slipped 0.75 cent to $5.40 a bushel, while September corn inched up 0.5 cent to $3.55 a bushel. July oats were unchanged at $2.1475 a bushel, and soybeans for August delivery soared 27.25 cents to $11.465 a bushel.
Meanwhile, beef and pork futures were mostly higher on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
August live cattle rose 0.17 cent to 85.42 cents a pound, while August feeder cattle gained 0.43 cent to 103.25 cents a pound. July lean hogs edged up 0.08 cent to 58.75 cents a pound, but August pork bellies dropped 0.45 cent to 55.25 cents a pound.
