NEW DELHI - The second Administrative Reforms Commission Saturday released its 11th report that calls for promoting the application of IT in government functioning.

‘Through e-governance we want to promote the application of information and communication technology in government functioning to create Simple, Moral, Accountable and Transparent (SMART) governance,’ the report said.

Congress general secretary M. Veerappa Moily, who heads the panel, said that through e-governance processes like issuance of passports and National Identity Card would become speedy and time-bound.

‘The entire passport issue process needs to be put on an e-governance mode in phases. The police verification would be streamlined and made time bound,’ he said.
