SHIMLA - At least 30 people were killed when a privately owned bus rolled down a gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district Tuesday, a legislator said.

The ill-fated bus was coming to Chamba, the district headquarter town, from Charda village when it fell into the gorge near Tissa, 475 km from here.

‘Thirty passengers were killed in the accident that occurred near Tissa village this (Tuesday) afternoon. Most of them died on the spot,’ legislator Surender Bhardwaj told IANS on telephone.

He said most of the victims belonged to Chamba district.

Unconfirmed reports say 40 people died in the accident.
