Quilters readying annual show
PADUCAH, Ky. — What one quilter described as “the mother of all quilt shows” is once again taking over this western Kentucky city, where this year it celebrates its 25th anniversary.
The show opens to the public Wednesday at the Julian Carroll Convention Center. WPSD-TV reports that best of show was awarded Tuesday to Mariya Waters of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, for her quilt, titled “Renaissance Revival.”
The Paducah Sun reports that a $4 million renovation of the convention center was completed last week, and the Executive Inn reopened over the weekend after being closed for seven months.
The hotel was cleaned and repaired in an effort to eliminate problems that caused complaints after shows in 2007 and 2008.
