BAGHDAD - At least 24 people were killed and 50 wounded in a car bomb explosion in northern Baghdad Saturday, the interior ministry said.

‘The car bomb explosion in Kadhmiyah killed 24 people and wounded 50,’ it said.

The powerful explosion rocked a busy parking lot used by commuters near the Zahraa square in the Shia neighbourhood, leaving body parts and bloodstains scattered across surrounding houses and vehicles.

Iraqi security forces and US troops rushed to the area and sealed off the scene.
