SHIJIAZHUANG - Seventeen people were killed Tuesday when an under-construction building collapsed in China’s northern Hebei province, officials said.

The incident took place at 9.15 a.m. when the two-storey building owned by the Tengfei Malleable Iron Casting company collapsed in Nanshijiazhuang village in Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei province. Three injured people were rushed to a hospital.

The officials said the building collapsed after heavy rains damaged the structure.

Rescue workers have pulled out 20 people from the rubbles.
