12-year-old girl gang raped in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW - A 12-year-old Dalit girl was raped by four young men in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district, police said Monday.

The girl has alleged that her neighbour Atiq Ahmad, 22, and his three friends raped her Sunday while she was alone in her house. She is a resident of Matinpur village in Sitapur, about 80 km from here.

“Ahmad and his three friends raped the minor girl after barging into her residence. At the time of incident, the victim’s parents had gone to attend a wedding,” police inspector T.P. Verma told IANS on phone.

A case has been registered against the four men, who are absconding, Verma said.
